The journey of Chidambaram’s New Madras Hotel started in 1940. It was during this period the British constructed Lodhi colony for its workers who worked for East India company. Most of the people who were allotted accommodation here belonged to South India, Madarasis. For catering the South Indian food needs the British appointed a South Indian cook and that was our beloved founder Late Mr.Chidambaram who belonged to Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu.

In 1940s this outlet was opened and was named as Chidambaram mess. At those time Mr.Chidambaram used to grind batter for idly, dosa and vada the previous evening and serve cooked food the next day. He was the one to introduce idly, dosa and South Indian foods to Delhi. The workers liked the taste and there used to be huge crowd all over the day.

Like many start up companies we too had to face lot of struggles in the initial stages. Mr. Chidambaram fought all struggles and moved to the own campus where we are located now in 1954. Ever since the reputation kept growing on and there were improvements day by day.

From 1980 Mr.Chidambaram’s sons took over the business and worked on the principle "where quality is our tradition" and brought innovative ideas to improve the business. During this period the business grew and with their hardwork and determination our business reached all the nook and corners of Delhi.

We now have 30 seat air conditioned dine in, take away, home delivery and catering orders. We have a huge number of satisfied prestigious customers who enjoy our services.
